School of the Young Journalist “MEDIA SCHOOL”

GENERAL PROVISIONS

“Media School. School of the young journalist” is a unique project that can stimulate information processes for young people and the younger generation through the training of basic skills in journalism.

The project was developed by the NGO “Ukrainian Student Fraternity “THE ELITE OF THE NATION” with the assistance of the Department of Mass Communications of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration and the Faculty of Philology of the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

Participation in the project is free of charge.

PURPOSE AND OBJECT OF THE PROJECT

The purpose of the project is to nurture the national consciousness of youth by involving talented young people in information processes.

Project objectives are:

  • to establishment patriotism, spirituality, morality and the to bring up universal values;
  • to form a creative personality who is capable of self-development, self-education and self-actualization;
  • to attract as many young people as possible to active intellectual and creative activity, including meaningful leisure;
  • to popularize the Faculty of Philology of the V.N. Krazin Kharkiv National University and the profession of a journalist;
  • to involve young people in journalism.

PROJECT ORGANIZERS

The project was created and developed by the non-governmental organization “Ukrainian Student Fraternity “The Elite of the Nation” with the assistance of the Department of Mass Communications of Kharkiv Regional State Administration and and the Faculty of Philology of the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (hereinafter Organizers).

The project is supported by the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

The project partner is the public institution “Kharkiv Regional Youth Center”.

PROJECT PARTICIPANTS

Project Participants are people aged from 16 to 25. To participate in the project, one should apply for participation, pass the competitive selection and receive a positive decision on registration as a participant from the organizers.

PROJECT PROGRAM

The project provides a rich training program (Annex 1), which is divided into four stages:

  • at the first stage, emphasis is placed on textual (newspaper and online) journalism;
  • the second stage is devoted to on-radio journalism and TV news reports;
  • the third stage includes more complicated formats of television journalism, among others reporting, analytics and journalistic investigations;
  • at the fourth stage, the participants practice in editors offices, including attending world-view courses and master classes.

The project program is developed and coordinated separately for each project season.

CREATION AND MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION WEB SOURCE

The information resource Molod News (Youth News) was created to implement into life practical skills and abilities of the people participating.

Participants involved get prompt access to the web resource, including the opportunity granted to publishing their articles, reports, reviews, interviews etc.

FINAL PROVISIONS

The organizers have the right to conduct photo and video recording, audio recordings at project events, including transfering this right to the persons authorized (accredited). Organizers are entitled to using these materials for non-commercial purposes and for the purpose of promoting the project. Commercial use of audio and video materials is allowed with the written permission given by the author or the copyright holder.

Organizers have the right to make operational changes in this Regulation and the Annex thereto with obligatory reporting to project participants.

The organizers are entitled to changing the dates, terms, time and venues of the project activities, as well as making adjustments to the program of the project with the obligatory informing of the participants involved.

All the controversial issues and conflict situations that arise during the project activities are solved by the Project organizers in accordance with Ukrainian legislation.
